Your lights work when you flip the switch. Your panel isn’t humming or throwing breakers every time you run the dryer. Your generator kicks on during the next storm, and you’re not sitting in the dark wondering if you should’ve called someone else.
That’s what happens when the work is done by someone who’s been doing this for over 35 years. Not someone who’s learning on your dime.
You get flat-rate pricing before we start, so there’s no surprise bill at the end. You get a fully stocked truck that shows up ready to work, not three trips to the supply house. And if something’s not right, you can call the owner directly—not leave a message and hope someone calls back.
We’ve been serving Crutchfield Crossroads and the surrounding area since 2002. Most of our work comes from people who’ve used us before or heard about us from someone who has. That doesn’t happen by accident.
ESP Electrical Service Providers is owned and run by Andy Helton, a Master Electrician with over 35 years in the trade. We started in 2002 focusing on service work—the kind that keeps homes and businesses running after the builders leave.
Crutchfield Crossroads has changed a lot since then. Median home prices are over $370,000 now, and a third of households here have four or more vehicles. That means more garage circuits, more EV charging setups, and more electrical demand than these older systems were built to handle.
We know the area. We know the homes. And we know what it takes to bring a 1980s electrical system into 2025 without ripping out every wall in your house.

You call, text, or email. You talk to a real person—not a voicemail system. We ask what’s going on, and we schedule a time that works for you.
A uniformed technician shows up in a fully stocked truck. They assess the issue, explain what’s wrong in plain terms, and give you a flat-rate price before any work starts. No hourly guessing games.
If you approve, they do the work. They test it. They clean up. And they don’t leave until you’re satisfied with the result.
If it’s an emergency, we move faster. If it’s a bigger job—like a panel upgrade or generator install—we walk you through the timeline and what to expect at each step. You’re not left wondering what’s happening or when we’re coming back.
After the job, you have direct access to the owner if anything comes up. That’s not standard in this industry, but it should be.

We handle electrical repair, panel upgrades, generator installations, EV charging setups, smart home wiring, and commercial electrical work. If it involves electricity and it’s not working right, we can fix it.
A lot of homes in Crutchfield Crossroads were built between 1970 and 1999. Those electrical systems weren’t designed for modern loads—heat pumps, electric vehicles, home offices, smart devices. You might be tripping breakers, seeing flickering lights, or dealing with outlets that don’t hold a charge. That’s not a quirk. That’s your panel telling you it’s maxed out.
We also install Generac standby generators. North Carolina gets hit with storms. Winter Storm Elliott in 2022 left thousands without power. A standby generator means your heat stays on, your fridge keeps running, and you’re not scrambling for a hotel or throwing out a freezer full of food.
For commercial clients, we handle everything from lighting retrofits to code compliance work. We’ve worked with local businesses that need reliable electrical service without the runaround. Same approach: show up, assess, quote, complete.

It depends on what you need done. A simple outlet repair might run a couple hundred dollars. A full panel upgrade can be several thousand. Generator installations vary based on size and fuel source.
We use flat-rate pricing, which means we give you the price before we start. You’re not paying by the hour and hoping the job goes fast. You know the cost upfront, and that’s what you pay.
If you want a ballpark over the phone, we can usually give you a range based on what you describe. But the real number comes after we see the job in person. Every house is different, and we’d rather give you an accurate quote than a guess that’s off by a grand.
If your panel is over 30 years old, you’re tripping breakers regularly, or you’re adding major appliances or an EV charger, yeah—you probably do.
Panels don’t last forever. The breakers wear out. The bus bars corrode. And if your home was built with a 100-amp or 150-amp service, it wasn’t designed for the electrical load most families use today. You’re running computers, TVs, HVAC systems, kitchen appliances, and possibly charging a car overnight. That adds up fast.
Upgrading your panel isn’t just about convenience. It’s about safety. Overloaded panels can overheat, and that’s a fire risk. If you’re seeing any signs of trouble—burning smells, warm breaker boxes, or outlets that don’t work right—don’t wait. Get it checked.
Most Generac standby generator installations take one to three days, depending on the size of the unit and what’s involved with the fuel source and transfer switch.
We start by assessing your electrical panel and determining what circuits you want backed up. Then we install the generator pad, run the fuel line (natural gas or propane), wire the transfer switch, and connect everything to your panel. After that, we test the system to make sure it kicks on when the power drops.
You’ll need a permit, and we handle that. There’s also usually an inspection after install, which we coordinate. The whole process from quote to final startup typically takes a week or two, depending on permitting and equipment availability. But once it’s in, you’re covered for the next storm.
Yes. We install Level 2 EV chargers, which are the fastest home charging option. They’ll fully charge most EVs overnight, which is how over 80% of EV owners prefer to charge.
First, we check your electrical panel to make sure it can handle the load. Most Level 2 chargers pull 30 to 50 amps, which is significant. If your panel is already near capacity, we may need to upgrade it first.
Then we run a dedicated circuit from your panel to the garage or wherever you’re parking. We mount the charger, wire it in, and test it. The whole job usually takes a few hours if your panel is ready. If you need a panel upgrade too, that adds a day or two. Either way, you’ll have a safe, code-compliant charging setup that works every time you plug in.
Check your main breaker first. If it’s tripped, try resetting it. If it trips again immediately, don’t keep flipping it—that’s a sign of a bigger problem, and you need an electrician.
If your main breaker is fine, check your meter. Sometimes the utility company will disconnect service for non-payment or maintenance, but that’s rare. More often, it’s an issue with your service entrance or main panel.
Call us if you’ve ruled out the breaker and you’re still without power. We can troubleshoot whether it’s a utility issue or something on your side of the meter. If it’s your equipment, we’ll get it fixed. If it’s the utility company’s problem, we’ll help you figure out who to call and what to tell them. Either way, you’re not sitting in the dark trying to diagnose it yourself.
You can check the North Carolina Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors website. They have a license lookup tool where you can search by name or license number. If someone says they’re licensed and they’re not on that list, don’t hire them.
A licensed electrical contractor has passed the state exam, met the experience requirements, and carries insurance. That matters because if something goes wrong—a fire, an injury, faulty work—you’re protected. If you hire someone unlicensed and something happens, your homeowner’s insurance may not cover it.
We’ve been licensed since 1989. Our Master Electrician has over 35 years of experience. You’re not getting someone who watched a few YouTube videos and bought a truck. You’re getting someone who’s done this work long enough to know what actually matters and what’s just for show.
